It looks like today needs to be one of those days where you catch up on your work and get back on schedule. But, when you "fire up" your Macbook, the fire seems to be made from rubbing two sticks together as opposed to lighting a match. In other words, your reliable Macbook is running super slow. Not only does it take forever to power up, but all the programs and applications are crawling. Looks like the Macbook memory could use a little boost.
Some may be averse to boosting the memory of their refurbished Macbook Air. After all, it did run fine when it was first purchased. And doesn't boosting memory cost a lot of money? Isn't it difficult to install the new memory card during the upgrade? These are all valid questions and they need to be addressed individually to show why a Macbook memory upgrade is probably your best way to deal with a sluggish computer.
When you first purchased that Macbook Pro, it was probably stripped to its bare essentials. That is, it possessed only the installed programs that came with the purchase. It also did not include any of those files that are now occupying your hard drive. Over time, you added a number of programs needed for business and personal use. You also saved a ton of document, video, and audio files as well. So, the memory that you had when you first purchased the computer has shrunk dramatically. That is why the computer is running slower than desired. This is why a memory boost or upgrade would be a wise option.
A boost also becomes wiser as new programs are released. Some of these programs will require the use of more memory than you have available. Unless you boost the memory, you may be stuck using outdated programs to handle business.
As for the cost of boosting memory, this will all depend on how much memory you wish to boost and how you wish to boost it. Obviously, the more GB memory you purchase, the higher the price. Additionally, the name of the manufacturer of the memory card will have an effect on the price. However, you need to look beyond retail prices and look at the opportunity costs of not having an optimally running Macbook. If over the course of a week you are losing business productivity, you will eventually pay more in opportunity costs and outright losses than a memory book would ever cost.
The installation process does not have to be expensive. Yes, if you procure help from a computer repair or technician service you will be paying a lot of money for (minor) labor. However, clearly following the instructions the memory boost came with will allow you to install it with little or no problem. Of course, you could also ask your computer savvy friend to help you with this as well. Whichever option you choose will have the same result. You will not be spending a lot of money and your computer will be up and running efficiently again soon.
Installing a Macbook memory boost also reduces the need to purchase a new computer. That would obviously save a great deal of money and it would allow you to keep using your trusty old Macbook. It's been good to you so far. Why not rewards its help and loyalty and keep it a few more years?
