We live in a time in which artists and bands outnumber car brands. Today we will explore the small cultural intersection where alternative rock and the automotive industry somehow meet to create your next favorite driving soundtrack. So, get in, turn the key, pop those bands into your Spotify playlist and let’s take off. And if you’re not into a driving mood right now, you can always save those bands for your next car grooming session. Also, some of this stuff is heavy, so make sure your car paint protection game is spot on, otherwise it might fly off.

MASERATI – You Know You Want One

Coming from Athens, Georgia this band is truly the musical equivalent of the car brand it’s named after. A slick, beautiful and stylish marriage of history and futuristic imagery. The band’s extensive discography also proves there is always room for improvement and streamlining. Their last album Rehumanzier (2015) is an ode to retrofuturism bringing Carpenterian vibes to XXI century Earth and possibly beyond. Great for drives in which you should concentrate on keeping a steady pace.

PONTIACS – Travel Without Getting in A Car

Hailing from Chile, this band’s name is inspired by the Pontiac’s Rebellion, a confederation of Native America tribes that launched a war against the British forces in the late 1700’s. Pontiacs (the band) create a neo-psychedelic and space rock masterclass that will take you on a longer journey than you are probably prepared for. The bonus is these Chilean charmers can make you travel without even getting in your car. However, if you do, make sure it’s a long drive including a lot of sunrises and sunsets around deserts and mountains.

Favorite Song: Pontiacs – Chapter 14

CHRYSLER – Hit by 90’s Nostalgia

Chrysler were active quite a long time ago. Hop into a time machine and transport yourself to a garage somewhere in 1995 Spain, so you can experience a refined version of what the 90’s was all about - freedom, moodiness and distorted. If you’re driving and like to imagine you’re in a Cameron Crowe movie, this band is for you sonny!

MUSTANG - A French Tribute to an American Classic, Rock’n’Roll

If you’re wondering what a fast and sunny drive through the French Riviera would sound like, search no further. Even though the band is named one of the most famous American muscle car models, this band is as French as it gets. No accordion, though. Catchy and upbeat rock’n’roll from the land of fancy cheeses, croissants and car grooming experts. Merci!

Favourite Song: Mustang - Les OiseauxBlessés

TALBOT – Car Paint Protection Peeling Estonian Doom

This band is reserved for slow and depressing drives through large snowy terrains. Talbot is a heavy-duty doom metal duo named after an automotive classic and they bring some serious riffs that will get you in the mood for total world domination. If you’re not into heavy music, you can skip this one. Also, not recommended for people who don’t own their own personal tank.
